Meet Dona Emilia
Dona Emília arrived in Brazil from Portugal when she was still a baby, just three months old. Her family chose Foz do Iguaçu as their home, and that's how a small hotel with just 19 rooms was born in the heart of Foz.
With determination and a vision for the future, Dona Emília did not settle for less. She followed each phase of the hotel's growth, building floor by floor, always believing in the importance of renovation and expansion.
When the Itaipu Power Plant began to be built, Dona Emília saw a great opportunity. The town was still small, and the workers at the plant needed a place to rest after long days. It was at this time that the hotel gained momentum and became an essential refuge for those who helped build one of the largest hydroelectric projects in the world.
The name “Tarobá” was chosen not only because of the legend of the Falls, but also because the hotel was located on the street of the same name, strengthening its connection with the city.
To this day, Dona Emília keeps the essence of hospitality alive. Every morning, she makes a point of being present at breakfast, ensuring that each guest feels welcomed, as if they were in her own home.
