More than 40 years ago, the Hotel Tarobá, considered today one of the best hotels in Foz do Iguaçu, began to write his story.

When did the story of Hotel Tarobá begin?
Opened in 1978 by Emília Mendes and Francisco Sebastiany, the hotel started with 19 apartments and 8 employees.
Today it has 176 apartments and a team of more than 70 employees.
Emília started in the hotel business, influenced by her parents, she worked together with them in her family's hotels, the Hotel Estoril and the Mirante Hotel. Thus, she decided to follow her own path by founding Hotel Tarobá.
A path full of challenges
In 2001, Emília went through great difficulties, single-handedly taking on the business that was suffering from the hotel crisis faced by Foz do Iguaçu due to the high drop in tourism in the city.
These were difficult times, where Emília recalls that she accepted around 30 monthly payers to be able to maintain the hotel.
"It was with these monthly payers that I survived.”, says Emília.
Development and investments
In 2003, with the aim of helping his mother in the hotel business, Mauro Sebastiny, one of her three sons, joined the hotel administration and, together with his mother, generated changes that transformed Hotel Tarobá into what it is today.
Professional and motivational training courses began to be offered to employees. Thus, improving customer service and well-being.
Furthermore, leisure and recreation areas were created to improve hospitality and a tourism agency was created and implemented to make traveling easier for guests. However, it wasn't just that. Even small things, like a very inclusive breakfast, contributed to the hotel’s growth.
Achievements of Hotel Tarobá
Amid innovation, Hotel Tarobá took the lead in the Foz do Iguaçu hotel market and in 2006, it received the certificate as the first 3-star hotel in the country by the Ministry of Tourism and the Brazilian Association of the Hotel Industry (Abih).
With this recognition, the hotel ended up attracting new eyes and reaching new audiences. This meant that, in 2009, a new tower on hotel grounds, thus expanding the service and quality of accommodation.
