Itaipu Binacional received the Danish royal family this Sunday (31).

After 17 years, Itaipu Binacional received, for the second time, a visit from the royal family of Denmark. The delegation, made up of princes and princesses, was received on Sunday (31), at 14:30 pm, at the Visitor Reception Center (CRV), by the executive financial director, Margaret Groff.

The royalty stayed inside the Iguaçu National Park. In 1999, the royal family had already visited the plant and planted a Jatobá tree.

The expectation is that the list of distinguished visitors to the plant will increase even further during the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. This is because other heads of state should take advantage of their trip to the country to visit Foz do Iguaçu, which is home to the Iguaçu Falls, one of the main attractions postcards from Brazil, and the largest hydroelectric plant producing clean and renewable electrical energy in the world.

Only for August has the arrival of the princess of Thailand and the president of Hungary been confirmed. Foz do Iguaçu is also establishing itself as a glamorous destination.

Danish delegation

The Danish delegation is made up of Prince Joachim Holger Waldemar Christian, Princess Marie Agathe Odile, Prince Nikolai William Alexander Frederik, Prince Felix Henrik Valdemar Christian, Prince Henrik Carl Joachim Alain, Princess Athena Marguerite Françoise Marie, Colonel Soren Bo Bojesen and Mónica Maria da Silva Madureira.

Diary

The royal family moves to the plant at 14pm. At Itaipu, the princes and princesses will be received by the financial director. After planting the tree, the delegation will take a panoramic tour, which includes a visit to the Ecomuseum. Return to the hotel is scheduled for 17pm.

Other distinguished international visits

Used to receiving kings, queens and celebrities, such as Princess Diana, Foz do Iguaçu is an itinerary for illustrious visits, from Brazil and abroad.

Among them is the Thai princess, Chulabhorn, who planted a purple ipe tree in 1992. In 1999, Queen Margrethe II Alexandrina Torhildur Ingrid, Prince Frederik, heir to the throne, and Prince Henrik, consort of Denmark, were at the plant. . They planted a Jatobá tree.

On August 12, 2003, the filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola was in Foz do Iguaçu. In Itaipu, he planted a seedling of the pau brasil tree. In May 2008, the general director of Unido, Kandeh Yumkella, also left his mark on the plant, with the planting of a cherry tree. And, to cite yet another example, in February 2015, Itaipu received the UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-Moon, who also planted a tree on the Paraguayan side of the plant.
