Itaipu: More than just lighting, a beauty show

The Itaipu hydroelectric plant was created in 1984, on the Paraná River, it is divided between Brazil and Paraguay. There were some disagreements between the countries, but in the end they decided to share the electricity provided by the plant.

• Biological Refuge

For those who love animals and nature, visiting the Biological Refuge is a must, there are more than 50 species of animals and more than 960 species of plants within the refuge. The walk can be completed in two hours and thirty minutes, taking place from Tuesday to Sunday, from 8:30 am to 15:30 pm, with groups leaving every half hour.

• Dam Lighting

And for those who want to take a night tour, there is a beautiful display of lights and colors at the plant. Composed of 747 reflectors and 112 luminaires, the lighting moves to the sound of a very well-crafted and captivating soundtrack. During summer time, the lighting starts at 21pm, while during normal times it starts at 20pm, with both times lasting an hour and a half.
