Those traveling to Foz do Iguaçu usually include neighboring cities in their itinerary – Puerto Iguazu Holiday Rentals – AR and Ciudad del Este -PY.

Let’s say it’s one of the “must do” things for anyone traveling to the region.

And to help you choose the best attractions there, we’ve put together some unmissable experiences for you to put on your list!

Discover Puerto Iguazú

Puerto Iguazú is a small town in province of Missions in Argentina.

The history of the Argentine municipality began when Alvar Nunes Cabeza de Vaca discovered the Falls in the 18th century. XVI and wrote the first reports about the place.

But it was only in 1901, with the donation of land from Victoria Aguirre, that a strata was opened from Puerto Aguirre to the Falls, beginning the formation of the city due to its tourist potential.

Today, around 80 thousand people live in Puerto Iguazú and tourism continues to be their main source of income, thanks to its beautiful landscapes and the natural charm of the municipality.

And added to this is the fact that it is neighboring Brazil and Paraguay, with easy access via the Tancredo Neves International Bridge.

In the next topics, we will highlight some perfect places for you to explore there!

Puerto Iguazú: what to do?

1- Argentine Falls

In the Iguazú National Park, which is on the Argentine side, two thirds of the total Iguazú Falls are located.

This tour is recommended for those who want to explore more of the famous Falls, as this adventure offers different angles and perceptions than those on the Brazilian side.

At Argentine Falls, you can stay above and below the falls, and you can also explore the forest where more secret waterfalls are hidden!

Its magnificent experience and proximity to nature is remarkable, however this is a much more tiring and longer tour than the one done in the Brazilian park, as the place has 3 circuits:

  • Lower Promenade done below the Falls, with a 1,4 km walk;
  • Superior Tour, which passes over some falls, 1,7 km long;
  • And most importantly, the Devil's Throat, accessed by the ecological train, plus 1,1 km long walkways!

Ideally, you should spend a whole day there if you want to do all the trails and see the entire park!

If not, you can save your park entrance ticket and get a discount the next day when purchasing another Iguazú National Park tour!

Enjoy the trails, the forest, the waterfalls, the beauty of the place, as well as boat trips very close to the fiercest falls, like the La Gran Aventura tour!

4- Puerto Iguaz Marketú

To sample the local aromas, tastes and seasonings, an interesting experience is to go to the Puerto Iguazú Market at night, where you can find many spices.

The most sought after products are: cheeses, alfajores, dulce de leche, olives, olive oil, among others. Even more, there are bars where you can enjoy a good Argentine empanada and a cold beer!

Be careful with currency conversion values, as at Feirinha products are sold in Argentine pesos.

Therefore, it is important to pay attention to the amount of taxes charged per product you will take!

Another tip is: prefer to pay in cash, exchange reais for pesos before you even start shopping! AND avoid card or pix, as the conversion and taxes will make you spend more than expected.
