HISTORIC

In 1977, the first fauna program began, containing a specimen with all the animals in the region, which was later flooded.

In 1982, with the Mymba Kuera operation, several animals were rescued, some of which were sent to research institutions, while the remaining animals were released into reserves and biological refuges.

In 2002, Refúgio Bela Vista underwent a revitalization based on sustainability, transforming it into one of the fundamental instruments of environmental education.

23 new buildings were built, such as the Visitor Reception Center, Environmental Education and Tourism Center, as well as trails for visitors.

OBJECTIVES

As mentioned above, the Bela Vista Biological Refuge is one of the 6 environmental conservation units of Itaipu Binacional.

Its area is one of permanent environmental preservation with the aim of preserving fauna and flora, research, recovery of degraded areas, landscaping, environmental education, animal reproduction, seedling production and water supply for the city of Foz do Iguaçu.

CLOTHING AND ACCESSORIES

The climate in Foz do Iguaçu is usually hot, so don't forget to bring light clothes whenever you come to our city.

For your visit to the Boa Vista Biological Refuge, we recommend wearing pants or shorts, a cap or hat, light t-shirts, sunscreen and mineral water. A small towel also always ends up being useful.

Photography and filming equipment is allowed during the tour, but if your intention is just to keep memories of your tourist trip, opt for equipment that is easy to use, such as cameras that can also film or your smartphone.

TRAILS

Animal Trail – a 1.850 meter route where it is possible to appreciate the region's fauna and flora, being able to appreciate the beauty of animals such as coatis, ocelots and jaguars.

Guaimbê Interpretive Trail – a 1.380 meter long route where you can see the Guaimbê, a vine that gives the trail its name.

Trilha dos Sentidos – a small trail of 530 meters that will sharpen your 5 senses while exploring the fauna and flora in a unique way.

Sustainability Experience Track – here you will have the opportunity to observe experiences applied in sustainable environments.

The activities are carried out through economically viable and ecologically correct planning.

Trilha das Águas – the trail is 900 meters long, where throughout the route the visitor will learn about the correct and sustainable use of water.
