Tourism in Foz do Iguaçu: What are your plans for returning to the city?

In the face of the pandemic, Tourism in Foz do Iguaçu was one of the sectors most affected by the social isolation!

In order to prevent and prevent the spread of the virus, the state government and the city of Foz adopted several measures that transformed days and routines in the city.

Obviously everyone is concerned about combating the coronavirus, but one of the questions that surround the debates is: How will tourist activities in Foz do Iguaçu return?

For this matter, we took as a basis the information and the words of the Secretary of Tourism, Industry, Commerce and Strategic Projects of Foz do Iguaçu, Gilmar Piolla, who posted about the subject on his Facebook!

What is the first step for tourism in Foz do Iguaçu?

“Foz do Iguaçu will adopt strict health security protocols for the resumption of tourist activities. With this, the destination will be the first in Brazil to establish concrete measures to combat the spread of the new coronavirus (COVID-19).

The starting point of the resumption plan consists of developing health security protocols for different tourist activities, from attractions to accommodation, event organization, inbound tourism agencies, tourist transport and buffet services, among others. .

The proposal is that each sector has its specific protocol and that establishments sign a Health Responsibility Term, which must be displayed in a place visible to the public.
This Saturday, with the presence of Mayor Chico Brasileiro, the Municipal Health Secretary, Nilton Bobato, and the Epidemiology technical team, we will bring together leaders from the sector's representative entities, coordinated by the Municipal Tourism Council – Comtur, to begin assembling the health safety protocols.”
Piolla wrote on his social network.

In this section we can see the importance of complying with hygiene orders, to maintain health security in the city. Since the owners of commercial establishments in the city had to sign the Health Responsibility Term to keep the places in operation.

Adapting, hotels will be able to open in the city:

“After defining each of these protocols, companies will have to adapt to the new rules and, once they meet the requirements, they will be authorized to partially resume their activities. But the return will be optional, according to the planning of each establishment and as demand increases.

Small hotels and inns, for example, have a lower operating cost than resorts and may return sooner, as long as they meet the requirements.
With this plan, we want Foz do Iguaçu to be recognized as a destination that inspires confidence, which is concerned with public health and the well-being of tourists. This is the new image we will build. Health safety protocols will be our seal of guarantee from now on.”

Hotels, hostels, inns and other forms of stay in the city will be able to gradually return sooner, guaranteeing an essential point for tourism, as this sector is essential for new visitors to stay in the city.

This counts for us at Hotel Tarobá and Tarobá Express, that we will be able to return to our activities following health safety standards.

Why are the new measures necessary?

“We need to be aware that these measures are necessary, they are our new normal, as we are facing a very powerful virus, which has stopped the world; collapsed health systems; brought nations, hitherto known as superpowers, to their knees; killed more than 200 thousand people; It has ruined the global economy and will cause hunger and poverty for more than 500 million people.

It is a virus 80 times more powerful than a common flu and 10 times more lethal than H1N1 (swine flu, which emerged in 2009). We must also be aware that these new times require changes in habits. The new coronavirus forces us to think and act outside the curve. Therefore, do not see health safety protocols as something eccentric on our part.” (Gilmar Piolla – Via Facebook)

Piolla also reminded people not to ignore the danger of the new coronavirus, thus requiring good attention and care from citizens themselves in collaborating to contain covid-19, avoiding more people getting sick and putting their lives at risk.

Remembering the essentiality of changing habits, as simple as washing your hands well, using alcohol gel, masks on the streets, only going out if necessary, avoiding crowds and seeking medical help from the Coronavirus Service in case of symptoms, it is vital to protect ourselves the people we love and everyone else around us.

“The prediction of infectologists and the World Health Organization – WHO itself is that the virus is here to stay, it will be part of our daily lives intermittently and it will take time for a vaccine to emerge that ensures immunity for everyone.

Until then, we need to find ways to live with it, minimizing the risks. It is the only possible and imaginable way out. Or the survival of humanity will be in danger. We understand that the return of tourist activities will be slow and gradual after the downward curve of the pandemic.

Let's be realistic. The second quarter is practically lost. There is no reason to believe that Brazilians will travel for leisure in the months of May and June, amid the pandemic.

Only out of extreme necessity, for business or private reasons. Movement should start slowly in the third quarter (from July onwards), it may improve from October onwards and gain speed during the high season. We believe, however, that the scenario will change radically when we have a vaccine against the virus. When this happens, tourism will return with great strength.” (Gilmar Piolla – Via Facebook).

With this and more information about covid-19 and its significance for the national population, we remember other viruses and vaccines that have passed through the history of humanity. Unfortunately, we still do not have a vaccine for the new coronavirus.

Therefore, it will be more than important that people follow WHO prevention standards, facilitating the routine return to commerce and tourism activities in Foz do Iguaçu.

With the first steps still weak and slow, the tourist attractions of Foz do Iguaçu and the region, along with the thousands of jobs and professions in the city, will have to be engaged little by little until the transition flow of people returns as it was before.

Optimistic, Piolla believes in his last stretch that from July onwards activities will pick up and increase more significantly.

After a vaccine, we will be even more certain that everything will return to normal, not only in Foz but in any state in Brazil.

Priority in the region and borders:

Friendship Bridge

“Our priority focus will be regional and road tourism, especially that in which people travel with their own vehicle. Next, we will look for national tourists, from neighboring countries and South America. Next, event tourism. And, finally, foreign tourists of other nationalities and from all continents.

With its economic dynamism, as it encompasses a set of more than 50 interconnected productive activities, tourism has an incredible ability to overcome and self-regenerate. More than any other sector of our economy.

After all, traveling is in human DNA. Curiosity, exploration, discovery. Traveling is experiencing the true meaning of freedom. Dreams were only postponed and will be resumed when this is all over.
Together, with everyone’s support and with the governance of Integrated Tourism Management, we will overcome this crisis.”
(Gilmar Piolla – Via Facebook)

The borders, which currently remain closed It is a good example of the beginning of the city's tourist activities, since Argentines and Paraguayans form a large part of the nationalities that come to Foz do Iguaçu.
