The study also highlights some attractions of Foz do Iguaçu, such as the National Park, which received the Health Responsibility Certificate and the Protected Environment Seal. Not only the park, but the Itaipu Tourist Complex and Parque das Aves were also mentioned.

Remembering that to receive the certificate, the attractions went through a rigorous process of visits and audits, coordinated by the bodies involved in the project.

With the latest decree established by the City Hall, the restriction on the opening hours of bars and restaurants was expanded; These establishments must close their doors at midnight.

The accommodation sector also benefited from this, being able to offer 100% of its capacity.

Gradually, tourism is able to recover at full steam, but there is still a long way to go. A path that must be taken with caution and safety.

Tourism drives a large part of the city's jobs and economy.

Initially, the hotel sector is one of the most excited about the return of tourism in the city, and vaccination in Foz do Iguaçu is mainly expected by them, as with it domestic travel will resume.

During this period of restriction, both the hotel and gastronomy sectors took the opportunity to invest in improvements and train professionals in the area.

In order to increase the tourism sector in Foz do Iguaçu, Codefoz in partnership with Itaipu Binacional created a campaign called “Vem pra Foz!”, which is now in its second edition.

The aim is to bring visitors from both Brazil and abroad. This is a series of actions, mainly on social media, with hotels and attractions in Foz do Iguaçu for around 4 months.

In August, the city may host corporate events with a capacity of up to 500 people and the municipal government believes that, by the end of the year, events will be allowed with an unlimited capacity of people.

All expectations are in the month of October, due to the events already scheduled and the upcoming holidays.

Attractions and ticket sales

Attractions of Foz do Iguaçu, especially the Itaipu Tourist Complex and the National Park are selling tickets online, with the intention of avoiding queues, and consequently crowds.

In addition to this measure, many are still operating at reduced capacity, despite health agencies having already started vaccination in Foz do Iguaçu.

The National Park itself, home to the much-loved Iguaçu Falls, has been making frequent adjustments to the way it operates, all with the aim of serving visitors as safely as possible.

The park used to receive only 350 visitors per hour during 2020, and this number has been partially increased. Today it operates with a limit of 525 people per hour.

At the beginning of the pandemic, when there was no talk of vaccination in Foz do Iguaçu, the Park reduced its operation to six days a week. It is believed that in a short time it will be able to operate again at full capacity, every day of the week.

For now, the National Park is open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 9am to 16pm.
