The hydroelectric plant of Itaipu located in the city of Foz do Iguacu will host on the 08th and 09th of September the first binational stage of the Challenge Family triathlon circuit and the first in the world with a start in the afternoon and closing at night. Named Itaipu Challenge Sunset, the stage will have five events with the expectation of bringing together 1,3 athletes aged 7 to 60 or over.
The main event will be the Chanllenge Half Distance, on the 09th, with a 1,9 kilometer swimming route in Itaipu Lake, 90 kilometers of cycling and 21,1 kilometers of running. Also on Saturday, starting at 17 pm, the Challenge Sprint Distance will be held with a shorter route than the main race – 750 meters of swimming, 20 kilometers of cycling and 5 kilometers of running. In the morning at 8:30 am, the Challenge For All takes place with a 10-kilometer race-only route.
The other tests will be on Friday; Challenge Junior with a start at 16 pm, for children aged 07 to 15 years and Challenge Women with a start at 17:30 pm, only for women and a 5 kilometer walk or run. This year, stages are planned in Brasília, Maceió and Florianópolis.
