So, check out the documents you will need to travel to Argentina from Foz do Iguaçu – PR.

1. RG – IDENTITY CARD AND PASSPORT

Firstly, let's talk about the most common necessary document among Brazilians and allowed for entry into Argentina due to the MERCOSUR agreement, the RG.

However, to enter with just your identity card when crossing the Tancredo Neves Bridge, you must be updated within 10 years.

But, if you prefer, it is also possible to present your passport as an identification document in Argentina.

Likewise, your passport must be up to date and contain a recent photo of you.

Traveling with minors or children

Under no circumstances should those responsible fail to present the RG ou passport of the child at the crossing.

Without an updated and identifiable Identity Card or passport, children cannot enter the country.

Furthermore, it is necessary that both parents are present at the time of crossing.

If this is not possible, the accompanying person must be carrying a document certified by a notary that proves the knowledge of the other person responsible who is absent.

In other cases, such as the death of one of the guardians or adoption of the child, the document proving this must also be presented.

2. CNH – NATIONAL DRIVING LICENSE

Unlike Brazil, the CNH does not serve as an identification document. Its function in the neighboring country is just one proof of driving license in Argentine.

However, that is not all that is necessary.

To have your private car, you must have the car document in your name or, if the vehicle is outsourced, an authenticated loan receipt.

As well as, to enter the vehicle in the neighboring country, it is necessary to carry the Green Card.

3. GREEN LETTER – MANDATORY INSURANCE

As said in the previous topic, it is essential if you are going to enter Argentina by car.

If you are stopped, in addition to obviously needing your driver's license and ID, you will need to present your Green Card.

If you don't have it, you run a great risk of being fined or forced to return to Brazil!

The Green Card is similar to our DPVAT, it is Mercosul insurance that covers material and bodily damage caused to third parties, but does not cover damage to the car, in addition to 50% of lawyer fees if necessary.

The Green Card can easily be obtained in Brazil!

Rules on using the Green Card:

  • The insurance loses its effect if the driver is caught under the influence of drugs or alcohol, is without a license (CNH), or participates in “racing”;
  • If they do not present insurance when requested, drivers may be refused entry into the country;
  • The vehicle document must be in the driver's name or the driver must be accompanied by the vehicle owner;
  • If the owner is not present, entry into Argentina will not be possible!

Mandatory rules regarding car entry:

  • Be properly equipped with a fire extinguisher, 2 warning triangles, first aid kit, cambão or 'shooting bar', removable ball hitch that must be removed when not in use;
  • While driving, don't forget to keep your headlights on;
  • Find out what the updated vehicle regulations are in the information provided by the customs police.

4. CARTA JURADA – DDJJ

If during your trip to the triple border you only want to stroll through Puerto Iguazú, which is the city on the border with Foz, you just need to pay attention to the documents mentioned above.

Now, if you happen to decide to go to more than 40km from customs, and take tours such as Minas de Wanda and Ruins of San Ignácio Miní, you need to fill out the DDJJ online document, that is, the sworn letter to circulate in Argentine territory.

You must fill out the form at least 48 hours before entering the country. Just access this link here.

Opinion of those who have already visited the border with us:

See a little about the journey of influencer Ju Lopes from the Blog I swear, about his time here in the Triple Frontier:

"Still in Puerto Iguazú, we went to the fair, which is a popular store with a simple structure with a good variety of cheeses, olives, olive oil, seasonings, dulce de leche, regional products and various types of alfajor. I found the white and black from La Recoleta and ate it on my knees. A delight!

The stalls are open all day, until very late, and I was surprised to see stores operating normally at 11pm.

There are also some leather goods stores with good prices, as well as bars and restaurants. We had dinner at one, in fact, which was delicious, but I’ll talk about it in a moment!”
