Lonely Planet places Cataratas among the top 10 of the 500 unmissable tourist destinations!

Lonely Planet, the largest and most traditional publisher of travel guides in the world, included Iguaçu Falls among the top 10 of all tourist destinations, according to international news, also reproduced here in Brazil. These 10 destinations are part of the “definitive guide to unmissable tourist places”, launched by the British publisher last week.

The only Brazilian destination in the list, the Falls are located on the border with Argentina, where their beauty can also be appreciated. From South America, Machu Picchu, in Peru, and the Galápagos archipelago, in Ecuador, are also on the list.

Lonely Planet's list was prepared by experts from the publisher, who worked alongside local technicians to classify natural landscapes, architectural highlights and museums.

Other lists

Some Lonely Planet guides had already highlighted Iguaçu Falls as one of the most important tourist destinations. This is the case of the guide “The World's Great Wonders”, which had listed the Falls among the 50 greatest attractions on the planet.

The difference now is that the new list, based on everything that has already been published by the publisher, establishes the 500 that are “unmissable” and, from this list, highlights the 10 priority destinations, in the “Ultimate Travelist”.
