Foz International Marathon will have 2.200 athletes in 3 categories

The strike by Itaipu employees changed the route of the 8th Foz do Iguaçu International Marathon, which will be held this Sunday, the 27th. The start, which would be at the plant's Vertedouro Mirante, will now be in front of the Sesc Foz do Iguaçu unit , on Avenida Tancredo Neves.

The athletes will continue from there to the plant's entrance barrier, where there will be a return to the original route, heading towards Porto Canoas, within the Iguaçu National Park. The new route was confirmed by the Brazilian Athletics Confederation.

The marathon will have the participation of 2.200 athletes, who will compete in three categories of race – the traditional, 42.195 meters individual; the marathon relay in pairs (male, female, mixed and athlete with disabilities); and the 11.500 meter race, entirely within the Iguaçu National Park.

The individual marathon has 700 registrants; the 400 relay event (200 doubles); and the 11.500 meter race has 1.100 registered athletes. The prizes for the first overall places (male and female) will be R$13 each, but there will be prizes for champions in all categories.

The Foz do Iguaçu International Marathon is organized by Sesc-PR, in partnership with Itaipu Binacional and the Municipality of Foz do Iguaçu. Support comes from Sindilojas and the Chamber of Entrepreneurial Women and Business Management of Foz do Iguaçu.
