Discover the history of Marco das Três Fronteiras!

Did you know that before Marco das Três Fronteiras became “beautiful” it was practically abandoned? A curiosity about the history of Marco das Três Fronteiras.

But in 2015 it was completely renovated and is the way we know it today, clean, cared for and full of life and tourists.

Now I'm going to tell you a little about the history of Marco das Três Fronteiras, what it was like many years ago.

The obelisks in Brazil and Argentina were inaugurated in 1903, one with the colors green and yellow and the other with the celestial colors and white. They were made to celebrate peace between countries.

You must be wondering about the Paraguayan, right? So, it was built in 1961, fifty-eight years later, as a sign of protest, in relation to the war that occurred between the three countries, which is why the blue and red obelisk is square.

In Argentina and Paraguay the Marco is called Hito de las Tres Fronteras.

After our mini history lesson, we can talk more about the Marco on the Brazilian side, we see that the new infrastructure pays great tribute to the Jesuit Missions.

This gave a new look to the souvenir shop and the rest of the building, which included the Cabeza de Vaca Restaurant, which was named in honor of Álvar Núñez Cabeza de Vaca, an adventurer who supposedly discovered the Iguaçu Falls in one of his trips, but we know that this was not exactly what happened, as we can see in this post.

The restaurant has several options of prepared dishes, burgers, meat, fish, snacks and an incredible buffet. Their dishes mention the legend of Iguaçu Falls with their names! It's worth going to see it, because in addition to the good food, its structure is beautiful and worthy of a movie!

And in addition to all of the above, Marco das Três Fronteiras also has a light and water show that impresses everyone! For those who enjoy theatrical plays, from Tuesday to Sunday there are performances from 20pm to 20:30pm, starting with the staging of the Minuet (period dance), and at 20:30pm the Tres Fronteiras Show begins, in honor of Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay.

After the Marco's revitalization, the tourist spot became a very popular place to take more “conceptual” photos, especially for photographers who love a beautiful and breathtaking sunset. There were pregnancy, wedding and many other rehearsals there.

Marco das Três Fronteiras also welcomed some famous people such as Bruno Gagliasso and Giovanna Ewbank, Martinho da Vila, Marcella Rica, who worked out, among others.

The attraction is open from Monday to Sunday (including holidays) from 14pm to 23pm. The Cabeza de Vaca Restaurant is open at the same time, but the ticket office opens at 14pm and closes at 22pm.
