What documents are required to enter Argentina and Paraguay?

We know that taking our documents with us everywhere is very important, so we can't forget them when crossing to another country!

Therefore, as this question always arises among our readers, we decided to leave you a list of documents that you can or cannot use to go to Paraguay and Argentina!

Check below:

• Argentina

To move to the “hermano” country, we must take into account that they are very strict when it comes to documentation. Especially if you are crossing the country with your own or rented car.

Documents you MUST use:

• RG

The RG (General Registration or Identity Card) is essential when crossing into Argentina, regardless of whether you go by car, motorbike, bus, or however you prefer to get there.

• Declaration for minors

If you want to take your child or nephew for a walk in Puerto Iguaçu, you must have a declaration signed by both of the child's parents and it must be authenticated at the Notary's Office. And you have to take your ID with you!

• Green Card Insurance

The famous Green Card is mandatory insurance to cross Mercosur customs, its objective is to protect visitors from traffic accidents. So it is very important!

• Passport

A Passport in Mercosur is not necessary, but if for some reason you only have your passport in hand, you can pass to Argentina without any problems.

Note: The documents must be up to date and must be no more than ten years old.

Documents that ARE NOT ACCEPTED:

• CPF

The CPF (Individual Person Registration) is not accepted as it does not have a photo.

• Driver's license

The CNH (National Driving License) is always a subject of doubt, as sometimes some people are able to cross the bridge with this document and others are blocked. So we advise you to take your ID.

• Paraguay

In terms of documentation, Paraguay is very calm, because generally when entering or leaving the country they do not ask for documentation, only if you need to declare some goods with the Federal Revenue Service.

However, it is very important to have the documents on hand to avoid any problems.

  • RG

The RG (General Registration or Identity Card) is accepted to cross the border if you need to present any document for inspection. Ideally, it should be no more than 10 years old when the document was issued.

  • Passport

A Passport in Mercosul is not necessary, but if for some reason you only have your passport in hand, you can pass to Paraguay without any problems.
